    ***For Esperanza Students Only*** This club will challenge students on the PLC 90 minute early release days (scheduled on select Fridays) during the school year. Students will use teamwork to develop strategy and skill as they compete against other students while playing various games until the normal dismissal time. Subject to minimum enrollment. NOTE: Students may be subject to withdrawal from Board Game Club due to: poor behavior, late arrival to the club, and late pickup by parent/guardian.

    During this training camp, your son or daughter will receive personalized instruction on each subject of the ACT, including the essay portion of the exam. In addition, the instructor will sit down one-on-one and review the final diagnostic test with your student in order to develop a personalized summer study plan to get your student ready for the upcoming test. Included in the training camp is a study guide filled with tips and strategies to aid in the improvement of test scores, as well as continued online support over the summer as your son or daughter works through his or her studies.   • ACT Boot Camp - ONLINE

    Students can utilize this specially designed online camp to get on track and jump ahead of other students on their upcoming tests. Our programs were designed by Sycamore Learning Company’s founder who is an 18-year expert in the field of ACT and SAT test preparation and a graduate of Princeton University who also holds an MBA from Emory University. During the training camp, students receive personalized instruction on each subject of the test, including the essay portion of the exam. The camp allows for a much more extensive look at each subject that is offered on the test. In addition, the instructor will meet one-on-one and review the final diagnostic test with students in order to develop a personalized study plan. What's Included? Our ACT Boot Camp includes a 650-page study guide filled with tips and strategies to aid in the improvement of test scores, as well as continued online support over the summer as students work through their studies.

They bring hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) experiences that are aligned with Developmentally Appropriate Practice, National Association for the Education of Young Children recommendations for high quality programs, Arizona Early Learning Standards, and Teaching Strategies GOLD. Our child-centered programs provide opportunities for children to deepen their learning connections, practice higher order thinking skills, and build their knowledge about the world around them. The program can also support school-ready skills such as problem-solving, communication, persistence, and confidence.

    Featured Sport: WATER GAMES Dress to get soaked as we play sports and the wackiest water games in town! Join your friends for Bucket Brigade, Exterminator, Around the World, Fire, Water Baseball and more. Don't forget to wear sunscreen, bring a drink, and wear shoes and clothes that can get wet. Bring a change of clothes, if needed. Meet friends, stay fit, and splash the day away with AIT Water Games. Please make sure your children are dressed in athletic, comfortable clothing and shoes that can get soaked. We take plenty of water breaks, but it is nice for them to have a water bottle, rather than heading to the outside fountain. Please send water with your child, as fountains may not be available. Children attending After Care may want to bring a towel or a change of clothes. This session is meant to give kids a chance to have some fun and relax as they finish up their busy school year. Get in the game with AIT! Athletes In Training Sports Club provides boys & girls the opportunity to participate in multiple sports with friends, right after school and right on campus! We believe that keeping sports fun encourages children to stay active and to keep playing sports throughout their childhood while improving self confidence, skills, and nourishing their brains for better academic performance.   • CSI Rocks!

    This summer camp introduces students to the principles and techniques of crime scene investigation (CSI). CSI is a multidisciplinary field that combines science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) with critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Students will learn the fundamentals of collecting, analyzing, and interpreting evidence from crime scenes, while gaining practical knowledge in forensic science, evidence collection, and crime scene reconstruction. This course will include both theoretical knowledge and hands-on exercises. Students will gather in groups, learning together as they “work” assigned mock crime scenes.   • Drivers Education - Summer Classes

    Deer Valley Unified School District's Community Education Department offers an Arizona Department of Transportation approved Drivers Education program for high school students including behind-the-wheel training for students that are at least 15 years, 6 months. Students must have their driving permit in order to receive the behind-the-wheel training. In addition, students must be currently registered in/attending an Arizona high school. Students who successfully complete the program, which requires 100% attendance, will receive an official Driver Education Certificate which fulfills the state requirement for the Graduated License. The program is offered several times throughout the school year and also during the summer. Note: Includes graphic images/discussion involving accidents.

    Children who are 6 years old by August 31, 2024 are eligible to enroll in first grade. However, children who turn 6 between September 1 and December 31, 2024 may be assessed to determine readiness for early entrance into first grade. The intent of early entrance is to identify highly capable children who miss the regular September 1 cutoff for first grade entrance. Early entry is specifically geared for children whose curriculum achievement level far exceeds the norm. In order to be considered for the early entrance exception, the child must exhibit advanced skills in language arts, mathematics, and in social, emotional and motor development as measured by tests administered by the Deer Valley Unified School District (DVUSD). Early entry first grade testing procedures are as follows: Complete online registration for "Early Entry First Grade Readiness Test", which includes submitting an online payment of a $75.00 non-refundable test fee at the time of registration. At the time/date of your child's test appointment, the following items MUST be presented: Receipt for the $75.00 test registration Child's ORIGINAL birth certificate Kindergarten grade report ***Failure to bring these items to the test appointment will result in your child not being tested.*** Registration opens February 15, 2024 for the 2024-2025 school year. Testing takes approximately 1 hour and involves basic readiness skills such as social, emotional, and education abilities. All testing is held at the DVUSD District Office, 20402 N. 15th Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85027.

  • GIFTED ROCKS CAMP EXPLORE

    This summer camp provides an opportunity for students who are identified as gifted to participate in a summer camp designed specifically for their needs. Gifted students will benefit from the time spent with their intellectual peers in these fun and intellectually engaging courses created and run by gifted-trained teachers. Enrolled DVUSD Students and non-DVUSD students are welcome to attend; a report with gifted scores is required. Gifted identification requires a psychologist's report or CogAT scores. Siblings of gifted students are also welcome to attend. DVUSD Students: We will verify gifted identification for students who are enrolled in a DVUSD school after you enroll. Non-Enrolled DVUSD Students (homeschooled, charter or private schools): Parents enrolling students who are not enrolled in a DVUSD school will need to provide gifted identification scores. Send documentation to giftedservices@dvusd.org for approval prior to enrolling in Gifted Rocks - EXPLORE and INVESTIGATIONS. Please note that academic achievement scores and report cards are not gifted identification. Students will rotate through all classes in their age-level groups. Our classes this year are: CAMP EXPLORE: ROBOTICS - Join us for an exciting summer camp adventure with VEX Robotics! Explore the world of engineering and robotics while having fun with hands-on building and programming challenges. A IN STEAM - Students will have the opportunity to explore the A in STEAM. Students will be able to be creative in the STEM process using an artistic approach. Activities will foster creative problem-solving, collaboration and critical thinking among the students through various types of art. Choose Your Own Adventure: Students will explore complex topics while they get their minds working and their hands investigating. Students will use 21st Century skills as they explore grade level content of their choice in more depth. SPACE EXPLORATION - Students will work together to create a sustainable space station on Mars. They will research all aspects of a space station and Mars. They will then build their space station out of recyclable materials. PUZZLES - Join us for an interactive journey of problem-solving and logical reasoning! CODING - Coding, sometimes called computer programming, is how we communicate with computers. Code tells a computer what actions to take, and writing code is like creating a set of instructions. By learning to write code, you can tell computers what to do or how to perform a function. This course is designed to demystify coding and show that anybody can learn the basics! NATIONAL PARKS - Explore the beauties of natural parks within the US and create a pamphlet as the closing project to demonstrate what you learned about your chosen natural park. MATH EXPLORATION - Dive into the world of algebraic concepts in this engaging class! Students will explore equations, inequalities, functions, and more, gaining a solid understanding of algebra while sharpening their problem-solving skills.   • Get Dancing! - COUNTRY Partner Dancing (Country Swing/2-Step)

    Add some pizzazz to your dancing by learning to rhythmically move with your partner to the music. This class will develop your ability to move in sync with the music while mastering basic Country Swing and Country 2-step patterns. Each 4 week session will introduce basic dance moves to both dances, while improving your understanding of technique which makes it easy to lead your partner around the dance floor.     Get your endorphins pumping and your cheeks flushing with the pleasure of spinning around the dance floor. Learn to move like those in "Dancing with the Stars" in our beginner Partner Dancing class. Whether you are just starting out, or have learned a few dances and patterns, these classes are designed to introduce the basic elements of partnership dancing and advance you to a level where you feel comfortable going out in public and enjoying your new sport. Students will complete the KABC-II NU. This Level C assessment will be administered one-on-one by a DVUSD psychologist. The KABC-II NU assesses children's reasoning and problem-solving abilities in the state-recognized areas of Verbal and Nonverbal. We also look for creativity and maturity as we administer the assessment. The testing process will take approximately 60 minutes in length.   • Kindergarten Bootcamp

    Is your child entering kindergarten in Fall 2024? If so, join a Kindergarten Bootcamp! This interactive series from Phoenix Public Library meets once a week for 7 weeks and gives families a taste of kindergarten. Parents and children learn together the social, academic, and classroom skills needed for school success. Receive free tools and activities each week leading up to Bootcamp graduation. Registration is required and by registering you agree to attend all 7 weeks. This series meets on the following dates: Wednesdays, May 29, June 5, 12, 26, July 3, 10, 17 (no class on June 19) ** The Arizona Science Center will be presenting a special S.T.E.M. program for Kindergarten Bootcamp participants on June 19. This program is only for children entering kindergarten in Fall 2024. Not entering kindergarten in Fall 2024?
