Summer camp program for students in grades K-8 and age 5-14.
This summer camp provides an opportunity for students who are identified as gifted to participate in a summer camp designed specifically for their needs. Gifted students will benefit from the time spent with their intellectual peers in these fun and intellectually engaging courses created and run by gifted-trained teachers.
Enrolled DVUSD Students and non-DVUSD students are welcome to attend; a report with gifted scores is required. Gifted identification requires a psychologist's report or CogAT scores. Siblings of gifted students are also welcome to attend. DVUSD Students: We will verify gifted identification for students who are enrolled in a DVUSD school after you enroll.
Non-Enrolled DVUSD Students (homeschooled, charter or private schools): Parents enrolling students who are not enrolled in a DVUSD school will need to provide gifted identification scores. Send documentation to giftedservices@dvusd.org for approval prior to enrolling in Gifted Rocks - EXPLORE and INVESTIGATIONS. Please note that academic achievement scores and report cards are not gifted identification.
Students will rotate through all classes in their age-level groups. Our classes this year are:
CAMP EXPLORE:
ROBOTICS - Join us for an exciting summer camp adventure with VEX Robotics! Explore the world of engineering and robotics while having fun with hands-on building and programming challenges.
A IN STEAM - Students will have the opportunity to explore the A in STEAM. Students will be able to be creative in the STEM process using an artistic approach. Activities will foster creative problem-solving, collaboration and critical thinking among the students through various types of art.
Choose Your Own Adventure: Students will explore complex topics while they get their minds working and their hands investigating. Students will use 21st Century skills as they explore grade level content of their choice in more depth.
SPACE EXPLORATION - Students will work together to create a sustainable space station on Mars. They will research all aspects of a space station and Mars. They will then build their space station out of recyclable materials.

MATH EXPLORATION - Dive into the world of algebraic concepts in this engaging class! Students will explore equations, inequalities, functions, and more, gaining a solid understanding of algebra while sharpening their problem-solving skills.
SCIENCE EXERIMENTS - Calling all young scientists! Dive into a world of wonder and excitement with our science experiments. From colorful chemistry concoctions to thrilling physics challenges, ignite curiosity and unleash creativity through hands-on exploration. Join us as we delve into the mysteries of nature, uncover the secrets of the universe, and spark a lifelong love for science in a fun and interactive environment.
