  • (PLC 90) Board Game Club

    ***For Esperanza Students Only*** This club will challenge students on the PLC 90 minute early release days (scheduled on select Fridays) during the school year. Students will use teamwork to develop strategy and skill as they compete against other students while playing various games until the normal dismissal time. Subject to minimum enrollment. NOTE: Students may be subject to withdrawal from Board Game Club due to: poor behavior, late arrival to the club, and late pickup by parent/guardian.

    Featured Sport: WATER GAMES Dress to get soaked as we play sports and the wackiest water games in town! Join your friends for Bucket Brigade, Exterminator, Around the World, Fire, Water Baseball and more. Don't forget to wear sunscreen, bring a drink, and wear shoes and clothes that can get wet. Bring a change of clothes, if needed. Meet friends, stay fit, and splash the day away with AIT Water Games. Please make sure your children are dressed in athletic, comfortable clothing and shoes that can get soaked. We take plenty of water breaks, but it is nice for them to have a water bottle, rather than heading to the outside fountain. Please send water with your child, as fountains may not be available. Children attending After Care may want to bring a towel or a change of clothes. This session is meant to give kids a chance to have some fun and relax as they finish up their busy school year.     What is B.O.L.T.S?! B.O.L.T.S. (Building Our Leaders Through Science) is an innovative and hands-on S.T.E.A.M. based program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) where students participate in extreme science experiments, team challenges, and engineering activities. Activities such as exploring the world of gravity and acceleration, creating carbon dioxide, making non-Newtonian substances like Oobleck, and fun chemical reactions such as elephant toothpaste and slime.     Add some thrill and drama to your LEGO play in the Thrilling Contraptions after-school club. We will bring special LEGO TECHNIC parts - you know, the kind that move and have gears and wheels and motors - to build thrilling projects that help us explore the 6 Classical Machines and how they still form the basis of every tool we use. After mastering these special parts, we'll "Save the President" while exploring the inclined plane, "Reach Out" with grabber claws as we learn about levers, and more, until we complete class having mastered our understanding of all the simple machines and how they work together in an exciting battery-powered Race car project that will leave kids able to answer "What doe a transmission do?" In every class we will build a functioning model while we learn the STEM skills behind how they work, practice problem-solving skills, teamwork skills, and how to become better communicators. Jazz/Hip Hop is an energetic style of dance that combines both the technique of turns, leaps, and flexibility, along with the style and groove of hip hop. Dancers will focus on rhythm, coordination, and balance. No prior dance experience required.

Through the art of dance at a young age, children gain physical development, social awareness, and focus. Pommie classes teach young dancers the skills necessary to be part of a pom team. Dancers will learn jumps, leaps, turns, and chants. No prior dance experience required. Poms will be provided for use during the class.
