Qualifying children will be invited to register on a first-come, first-in basis according to the screening process below. Children who pass the screening for Gifted Preschool, and who successfully complete the program, may automatically qualify for DVU
General education, tuition-based preschool programs offer opportunities for children from the ages of 2 to 5 years old. Options for 2-, 3-, or 5-days per week, half or full day are available. The options will vary by age and site.

PRESCHOOL Summer camp program for children ages 3-5
This summer camp provides an opportunity for students who are identified as gifted to participate in a summer camp designed specifically for their needs. Gifted students will benefit from the time spent with their intellectual peers in these fun and intellectually engaging courses created and run by gifted-trained teachers.
Enrolled DVUSD Students and non-DVUSD students are welcome to attend; a report with gifted scores is required. Gifted identification requires a psychologist's report or CogAT scores. Siblings of gifted students are also welcome to attend. DVUSD Students: We will verify gifted identification for students who are enrolled in a DVUSD school after you enroll.
Non-Enrolled DVUSD Students (homeschooled, charter or private schools): Parents enrolling students who are not enrolled in a DVUSD school will need to provide gifted identification scores. Send documentation to giftedservices@dvusd.org for approval prior to enrolling in Gifted Rocks - Survivor and Quizzes & Quests. Please note that academic achievement scores and report cards are not gifted identification.

CAMP SURVIVOR:
SURVIVING RUBIK'S CUBE (Grades 1-3, 4-6) Students will be taught to solve the 3x3 Rubik's Cube using a storytelling method. Cubing significantly enhances cognitive abilities by improving problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, memory, concentration, hand-eye coordination, and strategic thinking, while also fostering patience and perseverance.
SURVIVOR: LEGO ISLAND - OUTBUILD, OUTPLAY, OUTLAST! (Grades 1-3, 4-6) Join us for an action-packed summer camp where creativity meets competition! Build epic LEGO structures, tackle exciting challenges, and form alliances to see who can outlast the competition. Will you be the ultimate LEGO Survivor? (STEM)
SURVIVOR CODING ADVENTURE! (Grades 1-3, 4-6) You'll work in teams to complete coding tasks, earn rewards, and unlock new skills. Are you ready to outcode, outcreate, and outlast your competition? Join us and test your limits as you unleash your inner tech victor! (STEM)
SURVIVOR'S CHALLENGE: ADVENTURE QUEST! (Grades 1-3, 4-6, 7-8) Campers will learn survival skills through teamwork, strategy, and problem-solving. They'll work together to complete challenges like building shelters, finding resources, and staying strong when faced with tough tasks.
a-MAZE-ing MAZES (Grades 4-6, 7-8) Navigate through twists and turns by creating your own maze! Adventurers will think, strategize, and overcome obstacles to create their own challenging mazes. Will you survive?
SURVIVAL TRIBAL CHALLENGES (Grades 1-3, 4-6) Adventurers join in simple, fun, and team oriented challenges designed to promote communication, creativity, engineering, resilience, and adaptability. Survivors participate in a Grand Finale: "Final Tribal Council"" Challenge to present their survival plans.
STEM SURVIVAL CHALLENGE (Grades 4-6, 7-8) Students will complete and compete with STEM challenges that inspire creativity and team-building while incorporating critical thinking, collaboration, and scientific engineering skills.
SURVIVORS "SPY UNIT" (Grades 4-6, 7-8) Imagine training at a school for spies... This course includes survivor challenges with mini crossbows, a jewel heist, footprint mysteries, memory games, cipher disks, case files, messages hidden in gel caps. Students explore critical thinking in a brand NEW way! (STEM)
SURVIVAL INSTINCTS: THE MINDSET OF RESILIENCE (Grades 4-6, 7-8) What does it take to survive in extreme conditions? This course dives into the psychology of survival, exploring real-life stories of resilience, teamwork, and decision-making under pressure. Students will analyze ethical dilemmas, test their leadership skills, and learn how staying calm can mean the difference between life and death.
SURVIVING MIDDLE SCHOOL (Grades 4-6, 7-8) Team-based and individual math challenges with a Survivor Tv-Show theme. Will you survive the Tribal Council? Students vote daily.
LOST BUT LOVING IT! (Grades 4-6, 7-8) Students will band together to solve real-life survival scenarios using their critical thinking skills, resourcefulness, improvisation, and teamwork!
